Isk’ru was born on the brightside of Verses. She scrimped and saved enough to move to the temperate ring cities by working as a junior mechanic in the chilled, underground caverns that were the only place computer equipment could function in Brightside, providing computer assistance to metal rendering plants on the surface.

In the ring city, Isk’ru puttered about for a year or two, overwhelmed by the choices of life paths ahead of her. After visiting a shrine of Desna, she received what she interpreted as a prophetic dream to become a spacer, and immediately went to sign on to space academy the next day.
